Qualification

My present occupational responsibilities / titles are Business Analyst and Project Manager.  As an analyst, it is imperative that I perform a complete business feasibility evaluation of each project, to include risk management.

As a project manager, I have the responsibility to keep my team focused on their respective tasks and completing them on the deadlines assigned and within budget.

With my military and corporate background, I know how to lead.  I encourage an open and respectful exchange of ideas and opinions.  This respective exchange is what provides all the pro's and con's of ideas and processes.  Analyzing new ideas promotes new and inovated ways of thinking.  I constantly see more effective and efficient ways to do things and I believe we should never stop looking.  We need to evaluate our processes and procedures (find the fluff and eliminate it) and move to a more efficient, cost effective design.  I get things done!

Community Involvement:

Childhood

Community involvement is one of my obligations to the Governor in a professional military capacity but I feel it's as important as a civilian.  I tend to direct my community service efforts to children, families and the less fortunate.

I was the Chairman of the Board for Imani Health Institute; a non-profit organization whoīs mission is to advocate on behalf of the community of color and low income individuals with state and federal health and human service agencies to insure quality and equality in the delivery of services.   Imani promotes good health practices, healthy living, and the use of health care providers whenever necessary among all people within the community.  Imani provides these services for individuals throughout the State of Vermont.  I continue to support this organization because of itīs commitment to help the community.

Prior to Imani, I was the Chairman for Burlington Youth Football.  With dedicated board members, coaches, parents and children that were committed to the hard work it takes to keep this self-funded organization running, we established new means to raise funds.  Most of the fund-raising ideas continue  today.   I continue to support this organization because of how they help shape Burlingtonīs youth.

Iīm an active volunteer on Christmas morning preparing or serving meals for organizations such as Meals-on-Wheels or various churches in the Burlington community.

I was born and raised in inner-city (North Side) Pittsburgh, PA.  I lived in low income housing and at times, on public assistance.  Through my early years, I watched a large city go through steps from a "Steel-town" to a what is now a High-technology Industrial city.  My  parents still live there and I continue to visit often.  The same luster I remember as a child, is still there, even through this transformation and growth.  I was a participant in the "Upward Bound" program where high school students could go one weekend a month to the University of Pittsburgh to take college prep courses.  At 17 years old, I entered the military.
